How it works: Enter your Y-DNA haplogroup or terminal SNP (e.g. R-M269, M269, I-S2364), or upload your raw DNA file. The tool reconstructs the ancestral chain from the root of the Y tree down to your terminal SNP, placing each branching point on a map based on its oldest ancient DNA carriers. If your terminal SNP is very recent (less than ~3,000 years), the tool will automatically walk upstream to the nearest documented ancestor.

Long-form (R1b1a2a1a2c), SNP only (M269, L21, P312, S2364), or modern notation (R-M269) all work.

Note: some ancient steps (older than 25,000 BP) have approximate locations because Paleolithic ancient DNA samples are sparse.
